While this race wasn’t great, I’d watch it over this year’s Daytona 500 any day of the week, which had about 15 cautions (a Daytona 500 record), over half the field out of the race, this pathetic 2 car tandem bullshit (pack racing’s WAY better), and while I do give props to Trevor Bayne for winning this year’s race and becoming the youngest winner in the 500, there was at least 10-15 other drivers that should’ve won that race but either got wrecked or had other misfortunes
Wish Spence would talk abt these performances during his little excerpts
The daytona500 in 2000 and 2006 were probably the worst 500′s but I don’t think that they absolutly horrible tho
@coltcub64 In a perfect world the championship battle would always be close, I just don’t like how they have to FORCE IT to be close, let things play out, and usually it was only like 1 race left is when a champ was crowned at earliest… I like the new system and it might actually work with the Chase because everything is so bunched up anyway, but then again we may not need a Chase if things just remain close because the Chase doesn’t show who was the best all year long!
@AngryGundamGamer, Would you rather the championship be all but over with 10 weeks remaining?
jeff burton would have challenged dale for the win if that caution would have not come out
Still gives me chills to see the 88 of DJ winning.
You edited out the key moment of the race, when Jeff Burton hung Mark Martin (his own teammate) out whenever Martin made his move on Benson. Burton chose to follow Dale Jarrett instead. Martin had the best car in this race and never recovered. Back then, it took 30 laps to recover from getting shuffled out in the front of the pack. Much different from today. To this day, I’ve never seen Mark Martin speak about this race. Outside of 2007, it was his best chance to win the 500.
@RyanTheIncredible882 The first half was good, but in the second half nothing exciting happened. The entire field spread out because of the long green flag run and the finish was hardly a contest.
@sporgie84 how was 2004 bad?
Ahh.. Dale Earnhardt’s last finish at the 500.
The 500s in 2000 and 2004 were probably the worst ones in recent history.
wow a year later micheal waltrip wins this race
@drzchulo1993 Jealosy
@drzchulo1993 Jimmie Johnson would be a more likable driver if he didn’t win only because of the Chase… he’s a good driver but he’s only won 5 in a row because the Chase allows that kinda crap to happen!
@drzchulo1993 hell yeah
Wow look at all the FORDS
man, if Johnny Benson only coulda pulled it off
but geez, this caution situation they had was a mess. it’s good they came up with green-white-checker finishes
man, if Johnny Benson only coulda pulled it off
@tfskilletadl but he also wrecked people alot and now hes got faggot gay knaus, oh yeah hes a good gay boy, chaundra isn’t a woman
@tfskilletadl 2007-2009 he, IMO, did not earn his championships…
After this race Chevrolet teams bitched,cried,whined(god knows what else) because the Fords were so dominant.
@drzchulo1993 FUCK YOU!!!!!!!! your just jealous that hes a better driver than your favorite driver, dont hate on him, I’ve been his fan since the 2003 season so don’t call me a fan boy
@MrPatd0308 Not as bad as the repaved version of Daytona will next year lol.
2000 daytona 500 sucked
