We all know soccer (or futbol) is generally a low-scoring sport. Sure, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo might pop in a few goals every once and a while, but scoring is usually very hard to come by. It’s no different in FIFA 10, where tough goaltenders and tight team defense often makes it difficult to attack the box and set up shooters for a shot on target. You’ll have to put in work if you want to put the ball in the back of the net, which requires a lot of planning before the game ever starts. The first way to prepare for an online match of FIFA 10 is to look closely at personnel on your chosen squad. Most of the rosters should be up to date and operating at maximum efficiency, but you may occasionally be caught off guard by the default lineups for each team. You will see all kinds of funny stuff, including elite players that are somehow glued to the bench in favor of lesser skilled, or backup goaltenders between the pipes.

It only takes a minute to check your lineup, but it often pays off. Not only will you catch little glitches, but you will also have a chance to experiment with different combinations on the pitch. Take an in-depth look at the individual ratings for each player, noting their various strengths and weaknesses. You might be surprised to find that a highly-rated striker has that number more for their speed than for their shooting ability. In that case, you will need to be aware of other, better choices for putting the ball past the opposing goaltender. There’s no doubt that you will be excited for the game to start, but small details will go a long way towards victory in FIFA 10 Xbox game. It’s equally important to position your players properly, so that your team is ready for everything and you can maximize the skills of each individual player.

Don’t put together a group of short defenders who will lose battles in the box, and make sure your forwards have at least one strong finisher among the group. Otherwise, you will end up with lots of runs and nothing in the back of the net. Obviously, looking at your players’ ratings is one way to do this, but the best FIFA 10 gamers know to look deeper and analyze the individual features of each man. It will not help you to use a highly ranked player as a defender if they don’t have a strong tackle rating, just like it makes no sense to put a striker at midfield. Make sure to take advantage of unique talents and ride them to victory on your PS3 and Xbox. Finally, substitutions are often where FIFA 10 Xbox matches are won and lost. Have a capable scorer to bring off the bench in case of a late lead, while every squad should have a solid defender ready to protect a lead. It seems like common sense, but you’ll be amazed at how often your opponent will forget to prepare. Be ready for anything and you’ll have the upper hand in FIFA 10, regardless of your rival’s talents with the controller. No, it’s not always the most fun part of playing, but it will be well worth it in the end. Prepare for victory!

This Thursday sees the introduction of some giants of the European game into the qualifying stages of the Europa League. Will they cruise through or will we see some major upsets?

BetRepublic.com previews three games featuring the big sides here.

Rabotnicki vs Liverpool Soccer Betting Tips :

A new chapter in the life of Liverpool football club gets underway this Thursday evening in Skopje, Macedonia as new manager Roy Hodgson and his men look to defeat the side that finished 2nd in the Macedonian league last season.BetRepublic.com make Liverpool the 1/5 favourites to claim victory in this first leg tie with Rabotnicki are available at 8/1 and the draw can be backed at 9/2.

Since replacing Rafael Benitez as manager of Liverpool on July 1st Hodgson has signalled his intent to make the fans forget last season’s poor campaign that saw the 2005 Champions League winners finish in seventh place in the Premier League.

Hodgson has brought in quality and potential so far with Joe Cole from Chelsea and Serbian striker Milan Jovanovi and #263; signing on as well as 19 year old Danny Wilson from Rangers. However, this good news has been counteracted by the fact that star striker Fernando Torres is out injured and midfield general Javier Mascherano has informed the club he will be leaving. Will Liverpool be able to put all this aside and defeat the Macedonians?

The team from Merseyside should have no problems in winning this game and Rabotnicki have only progressed past the qualifying stage of European competitions twice since 2000. On both of these occasions they were beaten in the first round – in 2006 by FC Basel and by Bolton Wanderers in 2007.

However, of the two sides, Rabotnicki are the more active having played four competitive games so far, beating Lusitanos in the first qualifying round 11-0 on aggregate, then beating Mika 1-0 on aggregate to book their place in this match. Will it make any difference for the massive outsiders?

I cannot see anything making any difference and I fully expect Liverpool to cruise to victory in this game. My money is on Liverpool to be leading at half time and then to win the match at odds of 10/11 and Liverpool to win by at least two goals at evens.

Shamrock Rovers v Juventus:

After defeating Bnei Yehuda 2-1 on aggregate over the last two weeks, Shamrock Rovers have booked possibly the biggest game in their history this week as they take on the Italian giants Juventus. Books, unsurprisingly, make Juventus the 1/5 favourites to win in Dublin, with Shamrock Rovers available at 8/1 and the draw can be backed at 9/2.

Just like Liverpool, Juventus had a poor season last year as the 1996 Champions League winners could only finish seventh in Serie A. They were knocked out of the group stages of the Champions League and they have now appointed their fourth manager in just over two years. Will Shamrock Rovers be able to take advantage of the chaos that Juventus seem to be in at the moment?

Rovers are well into their domestic season in the Republic of Ireland and are second in the league on goal difference alone after twenty-two games. They finished second in the league last season after going bankrupt less than five years ago.

They are currently undefeated in their last fifteen matches and will be no pushovers, but with players of the calibre of Gianluigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero in the Juventus squad, the Italians should claim victory in Dublin.

With the home crowd cheering them on I feel that Shamrock Rovers will get off to a great start and, while I feel Juventus will win, my money is on the game to level at half time and Juventus to win at odds of 3/1 and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the game at 8/13.

BetRepublic.com Recommends:

Liverpool/Liverpool HT/FT @ 10/11

Liverpool -1 v Rabotnicki @ evens

Draw/Juventus HT/FT @ 3/1

Over 2.5 goals to be scored in the Shamrock Rovers v Juventus game @ 8/13

Wednesday’s Champions League Betting : Sporting Braga vs Celtic

There are some big name sides in action this Wednesday evening in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. Who will take an advantage into the second leg?Online handicapping portal BetRepublic.com previews the three biggest games here.

Debreceni VSC v FC Basel @ Soccer Betting Tips :

This match sees the Hungarian champions take on the Swiss champions for a place in the playoff stage of the qualification section of the Champions League. Online sportsbook BetRepublic.com make Basel the favourites to win this first leg tie at evens ahead of Debrecen and the draw at odds of 11/5. Will the Swiss champions live up to their pre-match billing as favourites?

Basel had a reasonable season in Europe last season. They finished third in the same Europa League group as Roma and Fulham, only failing to progress on the final matchday as they lost 3-2 to eventual finalists Fulham.

However, they did secure an impressive 2-0 win over Roma before losing out to the more illustrious sides from Italy and England. They did secure the domestic double of league and cup in the 09/10 season in Switzerland as well and will be a major threat for Debrecen.

Last season Debrecen got a tough Champions League lesson as they lost all six matches as they were drawn against Lyon, Liverpool and Fiorentina in their group. They failed to score in four games, only finding the net against Fiorentina on five occasions in their two matches, but still losing both. They conceded nineteen goals in total in the six matches. Can they get one step closer to getting back to the group stage again by beating Basel?

I don’t see it, and feel that Basel are great value at evens for the win. I also see goals in this match as there have been eight in Basel’s first two league games of their new season and there were seven in Debrecen’s second round qualifying game, so my money will be on Basel to win @ evens and over 2.5 goals @ evens.

Ajax vs PAOK Saloniki:

This match sees the runners up in the Dutch and Greek leagues in the 2009/2010 season go head-to-head for a place in the Champions League qualification playoffs, but who will take victory in the first leg game in Amsterdam? Books make Ajax the 2/7 favourites, with PAOK available at 7/1 and the draw can be backed at 7/2.

Ajax are the more well known of these two sides after their Champions League exploits in the mid 1990′s that saw them claim the title in 1995 and lose the 1996 final on penalties. They are not the power that they once were – they have not won the Dutch league since 03/04 – but finished well in their domestic league last season but were beaten by former England manager Steve McClaren’s FC Twente by a point.

PAOK had an extraordinary season last year, but still managed to throw things away when they had the chance of a league and cup double, however they salvaged things by winning the end of season playoffs to book themselves a spot in the Champions League. They have had a poor pre-season and fired their management team, so they face a massive task to win this game.

I actually do not think they can do it and I fancy Ajax to lead at half time and win the game at odds of 10/11 and I see there being a few goals on top of this too, so I’m backing over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/11.

Sporting Braga vs Celtic:

Who will progress to the Champions League qualification playoffs in this matchup between the runners up in the Portuguese and Scottish leagues? Braga are the favourites for victory in the first leg tie in Portugal at odds of 19/20 with Celtic available at 23/10 and the draw can be backed at 9/4.

These sides had completely opposite seasons last time out with Braga gaining their best ever league finish, while Celtic were completely outplayed by Rangers throughout the season and finished six points behind their city rivals after they fired Tony Mowbray and replaced him with club legend Neil Lennon.

Lennon lacks experience and this match will be his toughest so far, can he get something from this game to ensure that the match is still alive when they come back to Celtic Park next week?

Neither side have played competitively since the end of their seasons in May, but I feel that Celtic should have enough not to lose this game. As a result I am backing the draw at odds of 9/4 with both sides to score at evens.

BetRepublic.com Recommends:

FC Basel to beat Debreceni VSC @ evens

Over 2.5 goals in the Basel v Debrecen game @ evens

Ajax/Ajax HT/FT v PAOK @ 10/11

Over 2.5 goals in the Ajax v PAOK game @ 8/11

Braga v Celtic to end as a draw @ 9/4

Both Braga and Celtic to score @ evens

World Cup Betting: Germany vs. Spain The second World Cup Semi Final sees the dark horses of the tournament take on the pre-tournament favourites for the second spot in Sunday’s final. Who will progress? Germany or Spain? BetRepublic previews the game here. Germany v Spain Soccer Betting Tip : Spain came into the tournament as the favourites, but the 2008 European Champions haven’t really lived up to that billing, while no-one was expecting much from Germany in South Africa but they have breezed past England and Argentina in the knockout stages scoring eight goals make Spain the 8/5 favourites to win in normal time ahead of Germany at 9/5 and the draw at 11/5.The odds are close, but who will progress? Both sides have lost one game in the 2010 finals, with Germany’s loss coming at the hands of Serbia in their second group game. That loss came after join top scorer, with four goals, Miroslav Klose was red carded in the first half and they conceded a goal just seconds later. They should have got back into the game but missed a succession of chances, including a penalty.

That goal was half of the goals that Germany have conceded in the tournament, with the only other goal coming in the game against England in the last sixteen stage. In comparison to conceding so few, the Germans are right on form up front and have scored thirteen goals, with twelve of them coming in three matches where they scored four goals. Australia, England and Argentina have all been swept away by the goal scoring abilities of this youthful German side, will Spain be able to hold them back? If they are to do so, they will have to improve vastly as, while they have been winning games, they have not been totally convincing in doing so.

They dominated all of their group matches, yet lost 1-0 to Switzerland, beat Honduras 2-0 and sneaked past a ten man Chile 2-1. They should have won all games by more, but, apart from David Villa – who has scored five of the six goals that Spain have scored – they are not finding the net with the regularity that a side that plans on winning the World Cup should do. Only against Honduras and Chile have the Spanish found the net more than once in a game and they will need to score more than one to beat the Germans, but are they good enough to do it? Against Argentina, Germany knew that they had to keep Lionel Messi quiet to give themselves a chance at progressing.

They did this with style and progressed easily, and they will now attempt to do the same with David Villa in this game. Should they keep Villa quiet then they will win this game, as Spain are not firing on all cylinders in front of goal. They are need several chances to score, while it is very likely that a German player, especially Klose and Thomas Muller who have scored four times each, will find the net from that very same chance. As a result of their work rate, defending ability and goal scoring prowess my money is on Germany to upset the odds in this game and I’ll be backing them to progress to the final within normal time @ 9/5. I also feel that there will be goals in this match, so I’m on over 2.5 goals at 6/5. Check out more top tips for this game at Soccer Betting Tip BetRepublic Recommends: Back Germany to beat Spain within 90 minutes @ 9/5 Back Over 2.5 goals in the match @ 6/5

2010 FIFA World Cup Previews – Group E Group E contains the Netherlands, Denmark, Japan and Cameroon. The Dutch were the only European side to win all of their qualifying matches and will be looking to make short work of the group and go onto the knockout stage in style, will they be able to do so? How will the other three sides fare? BetRepublic.com previews the group here. Outright Group Winner Odds : Soccer Betting Tip Netherlands – 8/13 Cameroon – 4/1 Denmark – 4/1 Japan – 11/1 Group Qualification Odds: Netherlands – 1/6 Cameroon – 10/11 Denmark – 6/5 Japan – 9/4 These odds were supplied by BetRepublic. The Teams: Outside of the top two teams in the FIFA world rankings (Brazil and Spain) Holland are probably the best equipped side to win the World Cup in South Africa. They won all eight of their qualifying matches averaging over two goals a game as they found the net on seventeen occasions and conceded just twice. They have history on their side, as the last side to win all of their World Cup qualifying games was West Germany in 1982 and they reached the final before going down 3-1 to Italy. As well as this they have some outstanding talents in their squad, with an outstanding trio of midfield players in Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder. As well as this they have Arsenal strike Robin Van Persie back from injury and in form to find the net for them. The bookmakers have the Netherlands as favourites to win this group and I happen to agree with them. Of the other three sides that make up the group the bookmakers have Cameroon favourites to progress ahead of Denmark, but only by a slight margin. Despite being the highest ranked African side at the finals, at nineteenth in the world, they have failed equal the achievements of the Cameroon side from twenty years ago that reached the Quarter Finals of Italia ’90 before being eliminated by England in extra time. They have qualified for all but one of the World Cup finals since 1990, only failing to reach Germany in 2006 courtesy of a missed penalty in their final qualifying game, and have failed to progress from the group stages on all three occasions, winning just one match from the nine played. Should Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o be on form they will stand a chance of scoring goals and making the knockout stages, but a lot will rest on his shoulders.Denmark, the 1992 European Champions, have an excellent record at the World Cup. South Africa will be the fourth occasion of them playing at the finals and they have reached the knockout stages on all three previous visits, reaching the Quarter Finals on two occasions. The Danes were drawn in Group 1 of the UEFA qualifying group alongside Portugal and Sweden and went on to top the group ahead of the Portuguese, losing just one game. Strangely Denmark are available at 125/1 to win the World Cup while Portugal are available at 22/1 despite Denmark beating them 3-2 in Portugal and holding them to a 1-1 draw in Denmark and clearly deserving of topping their qualifying group. Can Denmark continue their impressive World Cup form? 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Betting Tip Japan are deservedly the outsiders to make progress from the group on their fourth successive showing at the World Cup finals. They qualified for the finals automatically after finishing second in the AFC final qualifying group behind Australia. Except for the 2002 finals, which they co-hosted with Korea, the Japanese side has failed to win a match. They won twice on home soil in 2002 and reached the last sixteen stage before being beaten 1-0 by Turkey. They will find it difficult to progress from what is a tough group. Who will progress to the last sixteen stage? The Netherlands are the deserved favourites to win the group because of their talented squad and their qualifying record. I’m in agreement with the bookmakers and I feel that the Dutch will progress as group winners. With regards to who will join them in the knockout stage, I will write out Japan firstly. They have an aging squad and have a poor record outside of Asia, and they may get a draw in one or two of the matches, but I cannot see them claiming a victory. This just leaves Cameroon and Denmark. Cameroon will want to prove that they deserve to be ranked 19th in the world but I feel that Denmark are the better side, as proven by topping a qualifying group that contained Portugal and Sweden, and they have an excellent record of reaching the knockout stages at World Cup finals. BetRepublic Recommends: Back the Netherlands to win the group @ 8/13 with Denmark to qualify @ 6/5.

Merchandising management is science of evaluating the habits of human buyer behavior and buying habits in order to determine the way to display advertize stock and sell the goods. To be successful in merchandising the inventory should me manager properly the sock and sales are periodically reviewed, to increase the sale the seasonal sales are taken care. Like in now 2010 foot ball world cup is beginning, to increase the sale the particular products like T Shirts Sports shoes are targeted to the youths. Advertize campaign are arranged, organized event are sponsored.

For example we can take the example of successes full launch of Scorpio, SUV segmented vehicle in India what they did is they sponsored the event called speedster and conducted the campaign with ESPN, the campaign is mainly to find fastest pace bowler in India, they conducted the auditions in so many cities in India more that that they gave a very good opportunity to each and every youth of our country to go through this event and they succeeded with this campaign they are able to make very high sales. In this way they used the campaigns to make a product release successful. In this way organization should come up with their new strategies.

We can take another example of very successful campaign of Aircel ” Save our tigers” with NDTV. This campaign makes them to attract more and more people to go for Aircel they used the different tactics and tried to create sympathy on Aircel using CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, this also make the product launch very successful.

In this way the different advertizing strategies should used by retail merchandising stores to attract the new customers and to succeed in managing the merchandising business.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the culmination of a qualification process that begain in August 2007 and involved 204 and 208 FIFA national teams. The United States then meets Slovenia at Johannesburg’s Ellis Park on June 18 and completes the first round on June 23 against Algeria in Pretoria.

The U.S. has never played either nation. finish since the initial World Cup in 1930, there were high expectation for the Americans at the 2006 tournament in Germany but they were eliminated in the first round with losses to the Czech Republic and Ghana around a tie with Italy. If the Americans finish second in their group, they likely would play Germany in the second round. If they finish first, they probably would advance to a meeting with Serbia or Ghana. “I think it’s one of the more well-balanced groups,” England coach Fabio Capello said. We’re going to have to be careful. All the games are difficult and we may start with the toughest game, since the United States will have a lot more time to prepare for the World Cup.

The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada is just around the corner. For those who haven’t been keeping up on all the winter sports since the last Olympics, here’s a top ten list (in no particular order) of the possible highlights. Just remember, it isn’t just the sports that make the Olympics worth watching!

1. The opening ceremonies

No matter who you are, or where the Olympics are located, deep in your heart you know there’s nothing more stirring than the opening ceremonies. China’s summer extravaganza set the bar pretty high for Canada, but you can bet your back bacon they’re going to put their all into it.

2. Women’s hockey

1998 saw the debut of women’s hockey at the Olympics. Since then, there hasn’t been much excitement about it in the US. But this year, Team USA is a frontrunner for gold. Canada has been dominating this season, but coach Mark Johnson has high hopes for his team. Can Olympic gold do for women’s hockey what it did for women’s soccer? It’s doubtful there will be a “Brandy Chastain moment” with all that gear, but perhaps the men out there will take notice anyway.

3. Biathlon

Hugely popular in Europe but largely ignored in the US, biathletes have struggled to get funding and training until this year. When the sport was finally noticed by a prosperous contributor money was finally available to get things going. The big standout for the US will be Tim Burke, who won both silver and bronze medals at the World Cup in Ostersund. This could be a great beginning for an under appreciated sport.

4. Stephen Colbert

When Deutsche Bank went belly-up and their $300,000 pledge for the US speed skating team went with it, Colbert stepped up to the plate. It took less than a month for the “Colbert Nation” to replace the funds. There’s sure to be a lot of Colbert’s scathing satire surrounding the games. Like him or not, the comedian has the audience and the pull to make things happen.

5. Team USA-1 four-man bobsled

Steve Holcomb has been piloting the “Night Train” with his teammates Justin Olsen, Steve Mesler and Curt Tomasevicz with incredible results. Three gold medals in World Cup events this season puts them at the top of their game. It’s even more amazing when you consider Holcomb nearly quit bobsledding because of eye problems. Surgery in 2008 restored his vision and renewed his love of the sport.

6. Skier/snowboarder antics

Though Bode Miller recently sprained his ankle, he’ll probably still make the games. And you can be sure he and the other downhill skiers will be as crazy as ever. Add in the new addition of extreme sports inspired skicross to the mix and you’ve got a recipe for a speed-induced adrenaline rush madness that only the boys and girls who haunt the slopes can produce. If only we could all be there for the after-party.

7. Shani Davis and Apolo Ohno

On December 11th, Davis broke his own world record for the 1500m by coming in at 1:41.04, besting his previous record of 1:41.80. In long track, Davis is hands-down the man to beat. Ohno, who at 27 is the elder statesman of the short track, is competing in his third Olympics in 2010. He’ll be pushing to beat Eric Heiden’s record of seven medals won in winter Olympics. But he’d better watch out, JR Celski is a young man moving up in the ranks, and one of the few who could give Ohno a run for his money.

8. Kim Yu-Na

The South Korean figure skater is the undeniable favorite for gold in 2010. Her signature triple-triple exhibits an intense athleticism coupled with a grace that brings audiences to their feet. At Skate America in Lake Placid, NY she broke the scoring record for short program, earning a 76.28. While the Olympics brings out the patriot in most of us, sometimes you just need to sit back and appreciate poetry in motion.

9. Ice Dancing

The possibilities are wide open for ice dancing this year. While US couple Meryl Davis and Charlie White won gold at the Grand Prix Final, it by no means places them above the rest of the competitors. Two favored teams missed this season making it difficult to judge who will come out on top in 2010. Everyone is sure to be giving it their all in Vancouver. It will be exciting to watch the heavy competition among the couples.

10. Skeleton

After a 54-year absence, skeleton returned to the winter Olympics in 2002 and included both men and women. Named because the new metal sled used in 1892 looked like a skeleton; it’s tough to deny the thrills caused by people sliding head first down a track at 80 mph. Look for the return of Noelle Pikus-Pace, the first US woman to win the World Cup in 2005. She’s back from taking the 2007-2008 seasons off to have a child, but is shaping up to be a big threat in Vancouver.

Canada is putting its best foot forward to make this a great winter Olympics. Take the time to watch a variety of sports. You never know, you could become the newest curling fanatic, or find out you really enjoy moguls over downhill. Bundle up, grab a hot toddy, and enjoy the best athletes the world has to offer in winter sports.
