Holy shit he looks so old.
Kevin is truly a good person he puts his heart into everything he does.
hey Kevin checking in to see how your doing bud miss ya from alb. NY
Tyson has never manned up to the firing of Rooney . I’d love these 2 to get back together and do an interview or just become friends again .
Rooney has never bad-mouthed Tyson . He still means the world to him .
staten island rep Big upS.
@CanvassBlack Cus did employ a tutor for Mike .
Tyson never lost a professional fight under Rooney . Not one .
35-0
31 knock-outs
19 in the first round .
That is truly AWESOME .
@2011TREADSTONE
totally agree, it was the beginning of the end…we all know Don King was behind it.
D’Amato + Rooney + Tyson = DREAM TEAM
@0Shane13 I’m not here to attack Cus. Personally I think the man is brilliant. I know Teddy is an arrogant opinonated dick but I’m big on education. That’s why I agree with Teddy. At least give the guy a tutor. Education may have taught Mike about Math and the how it relates to money and finance. No education makes Mike more naive to & vunerable to crooks and shady business deals where the manager and trainer each get 1/3 leaving Mike with a mere 1/3.
@CanvassBlack That’s teddy’s spin. What you have to remember is Cus made the same allowances for Teddy that he made for Tyson. Teddy was assaulting and robbing people when he trained under Cus, but Cus made allowances because knew it takes time for people to change. It takes time. Cus never put a gun to Teddy’s head and said change right now or i won’t train you. Cus did the best that could be done with Mike, as far as discipline, without breaking his spirit.
The klichko bro are. Lucky they never work with don king camp they would have been history by now
is this gym still open?
Tyson Without Rooney is like a Samurai without his sword
BIGGEST MISTAKE TYSON EVER MADE WAS FIRING TRAINER KEVIN ROONEY. DON KING RUINED EVERYTHING. KING YOU’RE A CUNT
TYSON WITHOUT ROONEY. IS LIKE JORDAN WITHOUT PHIL JACKSON.
@ShitWrangler My agenda is to set the facts straight and not portray Rooney as this loving guy who adored Mike. It was a business agreement plain and simple.
@CanvassBlack whats your agenda? everyone knows atlas had a marginal periphery contribution to tyson, rooney was there from the start. atlas just spouts off about how vital he was to tyson to further his own career. atlas did good things with moore, but he never did much for tyson. but the victor writes the history i guess…atlas is on espn, cus is dead, and rooney is living in obscurity.
You guys are giving Rooney too much credit as a human being. He was a good trainer that’s it. Like Teddy Atlas said If Cus and them really cared about Mike they would have made sure that he went to school. Cus had a singular goal for Mike Tyson ;be champion of the world at any cost. Teddy said Cus would overlook Mike’s Bad behavior.Tyson once fondled a niece of Atlas and when Cus did nothing, Atlas pulled a gun on Mike. Atlas was then replaced by Rooney. Rooney also was getting a 1/3 cut.
Cool idea. The text flashes by too quickly. Did this interview ever make it into any project? when was it filmed?
@MrLukedanger Atlas stopped training mike when mike was either 13 or 14 because mike had an incident with Atlas’s young neice. Rooney trained tyson from then untill the spinks fight. Which is like seven years and all of mikes professional career so your comment is inacurate at best.
@mike649fox rooney didnt even train him for half the time teddy atlas did.
@mike649fox i suppose in honesty no one likes DIscipline
when ur that RICH or famous u look for the good things in lIFE partying, women, cars etc etc..
DON KING gave tyson that freedom .
ROONEY and his crew didnt want that lifestyle for TYSON as knew it would decline him from training and fighting !
and like u said the very 1st time he fired ROONEY that was it
he was never the same
LOOK at him against HOLYFIELD in Both fights ??
SO SLOW and too much muscle
@mike649fox cus would have cried!!
think about it CUS knew ROONEY all of ROONEY’S like !!
if anyone he wnted to trust to keep TYSON great it was ROONEY.
CUS tought ROONEY everything he knew on HOW to train TYSON!!
SAME he did with ATLAS
when he came out of PRISON i thought he would have gone with ROONEY but STUCK with DON KING.
u thought he would have learned his lesson with KING, after Douglas fight !
as KING allowed MIKE to party and have no discipline
rooney did the opposite .
@italianoval You’re so right my friend. Cus and Rooney made tyson the unstoppable fightin machine he was. Without Rooney Tyson was just a good boxer, nowhere near a great one. Had he have stuck with Rooney I agree he would have been the greatest of all time. That was one of the first things he lost, his head movement and Cus and rooney made that one of his best weapons in the ring. It does stink how Tyson was so ungreatffull with Rooney. I’m sure Cus wouldn’t have been proud.
