If you are preparing for your retirement years or if your retirement years are upon you, you might be thinking about moving to another location, traveling or a myriad of other things.

Most of those who are retired or close to it would like to find a place to live out the rest of their lives that they can truly enjoy.

Of course, people will have their own ideas about the idyllic place to retire. Some would like to enjoy the states of the Pacific, like California, and others may want a quiet surrounding for their retirement.

Oklahoma City is a destination where all people can enjoy their retirement, whether they are looking for peace and quiet, city life or a blend of the two.

Oklahoma City is a wonderful alternative:

*For those retired persons who would love to retire to California, but find that the prices of real estate there are out of their reach, Oklahoma City is the perfect substitute.

*In many ways, Oklahoma City may be more appealing than a majority of locations in California for more reasons than the financial matters.

*Not to mention, homes that are considered to be worth a million dollars in California are considered to be worth only up to two hundred thousand dollars in Oklahoma City.

If you’re looking to move to an interesting city with a ton of history and personality, take the time to look into Atlanta. The bustling city of Atlanta has a plethora of great attractions for the whole family, no matter what your tastes are.

Speaking of tastes, Atlanta is home to literally thousands of restaurants too, with cuisines ranging from African to Vietnamese and everything in between. If you’re eating on the run with your family, or having a romantic dinner for two, there are many options to choose from.

And when you’re not hungry, there are many other ways to occupy your time when you’re in Atlanta as well. The city supports a wide variety of sports teams, including football, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, and even a women’s roller derby team, as well as a few others. If you like to participate instead of watching, there is always the 10k Peachtree Road Race as well every July 4th.

If music is your recreation of choice there are many ways to get your fill as well. Atlanta has produced such great performers as The Black Crowes, Sevendust, Collective Soul, and the Indigo Girls.
There are a variety of music festivals every year including several jazz festivals and a large rock festival as well.

If your performing arts preferences run more to the classical style, the city also supports the Atlanta Opera company and several symphonies and choirs. We’re very lucky to have over 100 performance companies in the city, ensuring there is no lack of entertainment. These include dance and theatre companies as well as musical productions.

If you are also trying to keep the kids entertained, Atlanta has educational entertainment with them in mind as well. Come and celebrate the International Year of Astronomy at The Fernbank Science Center. It showcases a wide variety of science exhibits and a very reasonably priced planetarium show as well. The Imagine It! Atlanta’s Children’s Museum is also a fabulous destination for families with young children. The facility has a myriad of hands on exhibits to stimulate little minds. There is also the Center for Puppetry Arts and the Georgia Aquarium right in Atlanta as well!

For those that are interested in history, an afternoon spent at either the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site or the Civil War Museum. Both facilities offer vivid glimpses into the past that helped shaped Atlanta’s present.

The more you look into the huge selection of activities you can do in Atlanta, the more that you realise that at the very least you will need to spend a few weeks here to just scratch the surface of the city’s personality. Keep in mind that the city also boasts a wide variety of fabulous character housing solutions for just in case you fall in love with Atlanta and can’t bear to leave.

Cape Town, certainly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I would like to say the most beautiful but I know you won’t agree with me unless you are firstly a Cape Townian or secondly a South African.

Cape Town is a trilingual city although you would find that some people can speak up to seven or eight official South African languages. This beautiful country has got eleven official languages. (We certainly have the most inclusive constitution. That is not always a good thing but I’m not going to discuss that here.)

The three main languages that we speak in Cape Town are Afrikaans, English and Xhosa. Afrikaans is by far the dominant language in Cape Town but people tend to speak more English when they outside there homes. So we could say that Afrikaans is most people’s home language with English second.

The reason for the three languages is the different groupings that Cape Town is made up of. To talk about that I’ve got to refer to the race issue and a little bit of history. I know people, especially is South Africa just don’t want to talk about the race issue because of our history.

Cape Town is made up of three main groups; “Coloureds, Whites and Blacks”.  The “black” group is known as Xhosas. This group has always been part of South Africa and Africa as a continent. At the moment they are the minority because most Xhosas live in the Eastern Cape. Cape Town is in the Western Cape. You would find that a lot of them understands Afrikaans and can even speak it but because of apartheid refuses to speak it and sometimes even pretends not to know it at all. During the apartheid years all groups were forced to speak and be were taught in Afrikaans. Their mother tongue were ignored.

The middle group are just called whites. This group is descends from Europe (The Netherlands, Germany, France, and England). According to history the first “whites” landed in South Africa and specifically Cape Town in 1652 under the leadership of Jan Van Riebeeck. They were Dutch and the other countries followed later.

With this different groups came Malaysians as their slaves.

Imagine the melting pot of languages that were brought to South Africa. People could not understand each other and a new language had to somehow come out of all of this. The Malaysians, as slaves, were the first people to speak Afrikaans. A big chunk of Afrikaans was taken from Dutch.  The “whites” would later claim Afrikaans as their language.

People start to sexually “mix”, in secret of course. “Blacks” and “whites”; Malaysians and “blacks”; Malaysians and “whites”; out of this mixing was born the group that people referred to as “coloureds”.

The “coloureds” and “whites” adopted Afrikaans as their main language.  Population wise the “coloured” group became the dominant group in the Western and Northern Cape provinces. (This is the group that the politicians target in the Western Cape and specifically in Cape Town for obvious reasons. The political parties are at the moment electioneering for the elections in April this year and the “coloured” group, not surprising, the targeted voter.)

Apartheid or segregation for those who does not know what it is brought separate suburbs with it. People in countries like the United States of America would know what I’m talking about.

English is the common language or the in-betwener but some people made it their home language. English became the business language and some people speak it because it makes them feel “superior”. (I personally think this is because of the legacy of apartheid. The so-called black grouping detested Afrikaans and some people, the “coloureds” –to be precise- did not want to associate themselves with Afrikaans. ) Yet Afrikaans is still the dominant language in Cape Town.

Cape Town, a western cultured city, is infused with Malaysian and Xhosa culture. This makes it an interesting city to live in. The people are friendly, warm and kind. The rest of South Africa calls Cape Town the Sleeping City because we are never in a hurry. Business people can be frustrated by our pace. Holidaymakers love Cape Town.

With its beautiful beaches, mountains, vineyards and friendly people you cant help to love this place. What can be miserable is the winter rains and from time to time when the southeaster is blowing us away.

Cape Town is nestled at the foot of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic oceans unite. In the winter you would stay away from the beaches on the Atlantic side because the water is very cold, but some of our most beautiful beaches are on that side. I’m talking about Camps Bay, Blaauwberg and Clifton; with Clifton and Llandudno as the playgrounds of the rich.

The warmer waters are on the east side, the Indian ocean side. Four of South Africa‘s biggest cities are on that side. They are Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban (also one of the top holiday cities).

The mother city, as Cape Town is referred to, is waiting on you and with the Soccer World Cup 2010 at hand, why not book now?

Reserve now while our currency is weak, it will definitely safe you money.

Zurich, the biggest city of Switzerland is frequently confused with Berne, the political capital city of Switzerland.

Anyhow, Zurich is the Cultural Capital of Switzerland. The old city, which was founded in the middle age, is separated by the river Limmat.

The most important and most beautiful sights are, the town hall build in renaissance style (built in the 1690s), the Romanesque-Style great minster (construction started around 1100 and was finished 1220) or the Fraumünster abbey (founded in 853) with windows designed by Marc Chagall.

The city of the 19th century encompasses the old city. This is the place where you can go shopping in exclusive boutiques and jewelries. I was talking about the banker’s discretion in the beginning; around the exclusive boutiques you find the highest frequency of banks in Europe.

If you are not interested in banks or exclusive shops, but in chocolate, you should really visit “Sprüngli”, the oldest chocolate-making confectionery in Zurich. It was founded in 1845 by David Sprüngli and Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann. Since 1859 it is the first place to buy chocolate (it’s a bit like the Hotel Sacher in Vienna).

For a historical review of Zurich, visit the Swiss National Museum. After your visit you can have a little roundtrip by boat on the river Limmat. The departure of those boats is directly at the National Museum.

Of course Swiss people don’t eat chocolate, bring their money to the bank or have a techno party all day. They are also interested in sports. Soccer (Grasshopper-Club Zurich) is an essential aspect of sports in Zurich. The FIFA has it’s headquarter there. Very popular is also the ice hockey team, ZSC Zurich. In 2009 they won the first Champions Hockey League (you can compare this tournament with the Champions League in soccer).

By the way, did you know that from 2006 until 2008 Zurich was elected the “City with the highest quality of life in the world”?

Since 1992 Zurich organizes the “Street Parade”, one of the biggest open air techno and house festivals in the World. The famous nightlife of Zurich takes part in old city, in the quarter of “Niederdorf”. Here you find several clubs, bars, restaurants and hotels.

There is so much more do discover in the outskirts of Zurich. The largest plain waterfalls in Europe can be found just outside of Zurich. They are called “rhine falls” and are 450 feet wide and 75 feet high. The best view is from one of the observation decks on the Zurich side.

Also worth a visit is the castle Rapperswil. Between 1870 and 1927 the castle hosted the exhibition of the Polish National Museum. From the terraces at the castle you have a splendid view on Zurich and even the Alps.

Fulham vs Stoke City Preview : Wednesday’s Premier League Betting

This Wednesday evening sees four teams play their games in hand before we reach the weekend and the final games of the 2009/2010 Premier League season. Fulham take on Stoke City in a mid-table battle while the big game of the night sees Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in a match that could decide who of the two will be playing in the Champions League next season. BetRepublic.com previews both matches and offers some great value bets here.

Fulham v Stoke City:

The first match between these two sides this season was an epic match, with Stoke leading 3-0 at half time before almost throwing the game away in the second half and just about taking the points with a 3-2 victory. However, this match is to be played at Craven Cottage rather than the Britannia Stadium and Fulham are a much better side there than on the road.

Of their eighteen home league matches this season Fulham have lost just four, winning eleven and drawing three. Their losses have all come against top six sides (Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City). However, they are safe in the Premier League and their thoughts will be on ensuring that their best players are rested and un-injured for the Europa League final in one weeks time. Will this affect them in this match, which is effectively a nothing game? I feel it will as Roy Hodgson will make changes and rest several of his first team.

Can Stoke take advantage of this? They have an away record of three wins, eight draws and six losses in their seventeen away league fixtures this season. Even with the changes that Fulham are likely to make I don’t see Tony Pulis’ men getting any more than a draw out of this match.

BetRepublic.com Recommends: Back the draw @ 12/5 with there to be under 2.5 goals @ 4/6

Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur Live Soccer Betting Tip:

The race for fourth is still wide open between these two sides, with Spurs currently sitting fourth in the Premier League on 67 points with a +27 goal difference and Man City sitting fifth on 66 points with a +29 goal difference. A win for Spurs in this match will ensure that they’ll be in the Champions League next season and they would close to within two points of Arsenal, bringing the battle for third place down to the final day of the season.

However, it will not be easy for Spurs as they travel to Eastlands where Man City have won twelve and drawn four of their eighteen home league games. They have lost just twice at home this season and both losses – v Everton and Manchester United – have come in the last five matches, however they bounced back after losing to city rivals United with an impressive 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Will they be able continue on from that win over Villa and move into fourth place in the league?
City have a good chance as Spurs’ away form has slipped in recent weeks and they have lost four of their last seven away league matches, including both of their last encounters on the road against Sunderland and Manchester United. In the other three away games they have beaten Wigan Athletic and Stoke City and managed to draw at St. Andrews with Birmingham City.

Their manager, Harry Redknapp, will have them pumped up for the biggest game of their season and they will make it a great game, but I cannot see them getting anything from the game. However, Spurs have found the net in five of their last six away games and Man City have conceded goals in four of their last five home matches so I see there being goals.

BetRepublic.com Recommends: Back Manchester City to win @ evens and over 2.5 goals in the match @ 7/10

It must be strange to be a Manchester City fan at the moment. After years of turmoil, including a brief stay in the third tier of English football, all their dreams seemed to have come true when they were taken over by a group of billionaires from the Middle East. However, the club haven’t quite had things all their own way. Despite spending masses of cash on high-profile players such as Robinho the club failed to secure European football last season and looked like they’d miss out on a Champions League spot again this term. It was this, coupled with the poor form of their closest rivals – most notably Liverpool – that cost Mark Hughes his job. Although he had been told he only needed to finish in the top six, the owners clearly decided he should have done better as the Big Four had clearly weakened substantially. So he was on his way and in came Roberto Mancini. He got off to a dream start winning his first four games in charge. However, it’s fair to say that these weren’t against the toughest opposition in the league and yesterday the Italian suffered a rude awakening as his team crashed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a resurgent Everton side.

The result is likely to act as a wake-up call for Mancini who now knows that life in the Premier League isn’t as easy as it must have seemed at first. He will also know that if he does want to break into the top four, he will have to offload some dead wood. Take Robinho for example. He doesn’t look happy in a City shirt and there are rumours that his continued presence at the club is more down to the owners’ fondness for him rather than the performances he has been putting in. Mancini has a big task on his hands and it remains to be seen how long he will be given to do it. He might have bitten off more than he can chew.
