2) Not eating frequently enough.

Lastly, the amount of calories that can be concentrated into a shake or smoothie is far greater than the equivalent volume of actual food. A 16 oz fruit smoothie may contain as many as 600 calories, and will not fill you up all that much! On the other hand, eating 600 calories of fruit will prove to be much more than the typical person can manage in a single sitting (at least, I personally don’t know anyone that can eat more than 2 pounds of bananas at a single sitting!).

Think about it- when making major dietary changes, you want to get the most out of your calories. Wouldn’t you rather fill up, rather than drink something and be hungry again soon after?

You can practice your weight transfer by putting two clubs on the ground outside either of your feet and do some practice swings. Make sure that at the top of the backswing your weight is over the club on the back foot and then as you follow through you end up over the club at the front. It will feel funny at first because it will be exaggerated, but after a while you’ll get used to it and it’s a great drill that will help you to take the weight transfer onto the golf course with you and pummel the ball 300 yards! If you over exaggerate the movement you may feel your body coming through before your arms which usually results in a slice. This just means you have a bit of synchronisation to do before it all clicks into place – it doesn’t take long, you just need a bucket of balls down the range. Here’s another tip you can use: On the downswing, concentrate on really snapping your hands through the ball so that you get the explosive power of the wrists. You can practice this with a higher club before you jump straight onto the driver.
