(closed captioning) Kind of a Nascar history lesson here. This video is all about the major crashes that have changed the safety in Nascar to what it’s become today.

The 1987 crash with Some dude was just like Carl Edwards in 2009 when he went flying into the catchfence
@DragonNile7 It was at Pocono.
best video ever
lol btw cars make nascar look like a sport for 3 yr olds the crashes do nothing to the cars
Elliot Sadler had a crash last week, I’m sorry I forgot what racetrack, and if it weren’t for the HANS device the crash would have snapped his neck and killed him instantly.
@TheDjpilk Alabama FTW!
Thanks for that. I actually didn’t know what the roof flaps were for. (Disclaimer I am Australian and we dont see heaps of NASCAR here on free to air TV)
at 5:17 is at my home town talladega yeaaaaa lol
This has probably been said before, but the HANS or Hutchens device wasnt made mandatory until Blaise Alexander’s fatal ARCA crash in October in Charlotte.
@TheJoey131 That was Davey Allison’s flip.
@DavidOrtiz36 its all good!
Now you have to update it to 2010. That is the best Nascar video I’ve ever seen. Awesome vid!
@RobinGoesUTube nah… overreacted, my bad
@DavidOrtiz36 ok guess you got a point!
sry
Test dummy, that is all Michael McDowell is good for.
@RobinGoesUTube just give credit where its due
@DavidOrtiz36 is quoting illegal or what?
you asshole!
@RobinGoesUTube hahahahaha hilarious and so original! Thank you Jeff Dunham for sharing that wonderful bit of comedy…
oh but wait… your not Jeff Dunham… so shut the hell up… your not funny
Jimmie johhnson rocks man
no.48 is the way to go
the funny crash on here was at the end where the car allmost hit the tow truck and the guy was just standing there wondering what was going on like the car went through two walls LOL
I didn’t read through all of the comments, but the HANS device wasn’t mandatory immediately after Earnhardt’s fatal accident. It was nearly a year later. And the SAFER barriers weren’t immediate, either.
Those are my only criticisms, though. Great video. And I believe that Mike Rich footage, disturbing as it may be, needs to be seen.
i liked this vid untill i saw the amount of views…and i was like… WTF!?!?!? and fav’d it
That was a really AWESOME video. To add on about the rule changes in the pits, they had all of these crazy pit rules that confused the hell out of everyone in the beginning in 1991. Of course, that changed when NASCAR decided to just add speed limits to the pit roads. There’s a video on YouTube called Crazy Pit Rules In 1991 and it explains it all.
That Micheal McDowell Crash at Texas still gives me the Chills
@spencerhopkins91 sorry, buy you are an idiot.
One crash that comes to my mind was the 2001 with Tony Stewart and 70% of the rest of the field
